Home?

With my birthday being last week, I have recently been reflecting on my past 21 years of life. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Sioux Falls, the following two and a half years in Grand Rapids Michigan and the past couples months here in Washington DC. Often I am asked where I am from and I reply that I am from South Dakota; but then the question comes where do you go to school there, and I reply actually I go to Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan. Another question follows asking what I am doing in DC, and I reply that I am interning here in the city. This conversation always leaves me wondering where is home? Is home here, in Grand Rapids or the place where my family resides back in South Dakota? Even though II will be debating that question for many years to come, I am very grateful for everything that all my friends and family have done for me in the past 21 years, whether it be prays, meals, cards, emails or just talking with me. I am so very blessed to have all of you in my life.
DC is a very busy city, where so many things happen from protests that last years, to the thousands of tourists that visit each year. Although I don't consider myself to be a tourist anymore, considering my current address is in Washington DC, I do think that some tourist groups are just crazy with their matching shirts and name tags sporting their newly purchased I heart Washington DC gear. Despite my disbelief that I am a tourist we still do somewhat touristy things.
A couple of weeks ago we took a tour of the White House- This tour last less than 30 min and we only saw about 5 rooms, but we did see the Oldest Obama daughter and their dog playing on the lawn.

This lady has been protesting for over 30 years, and hasn't moved locations in that long. She even sleeps here, all year long.
The next three photos are from the inside of the library of congress- way sweet architecture. I would recommend that whoever visits DC, see the Library of Congress. It also contains a Gutenberg Bible, which was really cool to see!

As many of you have noticed, it has been awhile since my last post, and I am going to try to post at least one more time this week, because I have tons of pictures to share.
God Bless
