My time in DC has been going by so quickly. I have almost lived here a month already, and cannot believe all that I have taken in and learned. Daily life in DC is so different than things that i have experienced, its not out of the ordinary for a protest to happen or crazy men running down the streets screaming that the government will be the end of us. Its not just the political aspects that make DC different, but the way the city works. When riding the metro its not uncommon to sit by a complete stranger, sometimes you talk to them other times not. I've noticed that you can walk anywhere here, and my friends like to do just that, i however prefer the metro. Also I must contain some great South Dakota charm, because my friends always comment that people tend to be way nicer to me, it must be that i like to smile or chat up complete strangers.
The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous, on friday we hit about 73 degrees, but normally it is in about the 50's. And thankfully no snow, besides the one snowstorm early on. This past week at work was less stressful due to the auditors being gone, and on friday my friend Eric, invited 3 of us to his aunt and uncle's house for dinner. I can't turn down free food, especially when snicker salad is involved. Yum. Afterwords we went and explored the monuments at night, and its such a sight to see them lit up. I'll have to return because my camera died :( How unfortunate.
Here we have the lovely Lincoln Monument
A picture of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Here I insert a shoutout to my Franken side of the family, I saw a Arlin Franken who was killed in Vietnam from Sioux Center IA. God Bless Him and his family.
And finally a picture of the mark of South Dakota from the World War II memorial.
God Bless you all and I hope you have a great President's Day
